Episode 9 of Australia’s Next Top Model saw the girls travel with Megan Gale to one of the fashion capitals of the world, Milan. They had their first taste of the life of an international model.
When we first started out in the industry we spent a fair bit of time in Milan for Fashion Week – it’s an amazing city and a wonderful place to immerse yourself in fashion but it definitely can be overwhelming considering the language barrier.
The girls were thrown in the deep end from the get go, challenged to navigate their way to a casting with world renown fashion house Trussardi. They met and walked for Creative Director Gaia Trussardi. This is an incredible opportunity for any model let alone our top 4 who’d never been to a casting before! A major apart of being a model is castings – they’re key to success in the industry and it’s really just like job interview. Making a great first impression is incredibly important and in most cases you’ll have a very limited amount of time to leave a positive and lasting impression on the client.
It was obviously a very stressful and nervous experience for all the girls – particularly Daisy. As model regardless of what you’re really feeling you need to display confidence and positive energy. It was extremely impressive to see the girls move past the nerves, take hold of the opportunity and give it their best! Aleyna really impressed the client with her business like attitude and great walk which saw her taking out the challenge with a score of 9.5 and the awesome prize of double time for the photoshoot.
The shoot this week was all about embodying a strong, spirited, stylish Italian woman. The girls were incredibly lucky to shoot with Stefania Paparelli – their first female photographer this season. Stefania’s work has been featured in Elle Italia, L’Officiel, Harpers Bazaar, Elle Australia to name a few plus she’s shot ANTM’s very own Jennifer Hawkins.
The girls really needed to be on their A game as they were shooting in the beautiful yet bustling Naviglio Grande Canal wearing some of the biggest names in fashion – Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi and Gucci. They really had to bring it because the photoshoot was their ticket to the finale.
A large part of modelling is traveling to a new places and meeting new people. This can be an overwhelming experience at times, particularly for a new model. To really succeed in this industry you need to be able to move past that, be professional and get the job done. What sets the great models apart from the rest is their ability to do this all while embracing their surroundings and taking on a character. The girls really stepped it up and all the girls managed to do just that.
Unfortunately, it’s the pointy end of the competition and it was once again a double elimination. The girls had to perform because the smallest detail is the difference between staying or going home. The girls produced some of their best shots of the season with high scores across the board. In the end, it came down to the minute details along with the differences in the challenge scores. Sadly it was time for Linnea and Daisy to say goodbye! Scoring 9.5’s and 10’s respectively shows just how incredible tough this competition is this year.
Linnea and Daisy should be so proud of their achievements and growth in the competition – Top 4 is an amazing result! No doubt there’s more to come – definitely keep your eye out for these two.
And now we’ve come to the final week – we have our TOP 2! It all comes down to one last photo shoot where the girls will give everything. It’s this shoot that will decide who is Australia’s Next Top Model for Season 10.
Check out the finale for Season 10 of Australia’s Next Top Model on Fox 8 next Tuesday at 7:30pm.
