KICK START YOUR METABOLISM

Metabolism refers to the chemical processes that are continuously on the go in your body. Your metabolic rate is influenced by a number of factors, age, gender, muscle to fat ration, level of physical activity and of course, the foods you eat. Some foods and herbs help to speed up this process naturally. Although exercise is one of the most effective methods to boost metabolism, here are some additions you can make to your lifestyle that will aid in kick starting your metabolism.


CINNAMON

BENEFITS:

  • Cinnamon has the added benefit of helping control blood sugar. It also helps lower triglyceride levels and LDL, or bad cholesterol

HOW TO USE IT:

  • Add cinnamon to baked goods, cereals and herbal teas

CAYENNE PEPPER

BENEFITS:

  • Cayenne pepper is one of the most powerful medicinal herbs in the world. It has many health benefits one of which that it can significantly increase on metabolism.

HOW TO USE IT:

  • Use as a seasoning on your favourite meals. We like to sprinkle it over vegetables. You can also have it with an apple cider and lemon shot in the morning

GREEN TEA

BENEFITS:

  • Green tea is great way to boost metabolism, aid with weight loss and strengthen the immune system
  • Green tea works to increase the rate at which calories are burner, and therefore raises your metabolism

HOW TO USE IT:

  • Consider switching out your coffee for green tea instead

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

BENEFITS:

  • Apple cider vinegar is an amazing fat burner. It helps to increase your metabolism which allows you to burn calories more efficiently
  • Apple cider vinegar is great for helping to alkalize the body, preventing you from becoming too acidic (we will be talking in more depth about this on STENMARK soon)

HOW TO USE IT:

  • Drink 1-2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water before each meal

LEMONS

  • Lemons are amazing for your health. Not only do they help protect your immune system and alkalize your body, but they also work to boost your metabolism
  • Lemons also help to keep your blood sugar balanced. This prevents spikes in insulin and reduces fat storage

HOW TO USE IT:

  • Starting your day with lemon water –  This helps to fire up your metabolism and give your body a kick-start for the day
  • Add lemon to your tea, salad dressing or squeeze some on top of your favorite meal
