Episode 3 of Australia’s Next Top Model was all about giving our girls an insight into what it’s like as a working model. The girls had a huge opportunity to walk at Mercedes Benz fashion week for the international renown Swarovski. We remember our first time walking at fashion week. We were in Milan for Calvin Klein – Zac open the show and Jordan closed it. This was such a great honour and an experience we will never forget. We remember the excited nerves vividly – walking at fashion week whether it’s your first or fifteenth show can be a daunting experience but it’s also a lot of fun.
This challenge was tough for the girls as most of them hadn’t modelled jewellery before. The focus needed to be entirely on the jewellery all while presenting themselves in line with the clients brief. To top this off -they needed to maintaining a presence on the runway to impress the judges and the client. The girls really did themselves proud, really stepping up. Congratulations to Vitoria who won the challenge and the opportunity to feature in the new Crystaldust campaign for Swarovski.
The photo shoot this week saw the girls shoot with the amazing Jez Smith. They were also lucky enough to be treated to a performance by successful past contestants of Australia’s Next Top Model – Simone Holtznagel, Amanda Ware and Cassi Van Den Dungen. This was an amazing chance for the girls to see the talent that the show has produce and how far these girl had come from their time on the show.
In the shoot this week the girls had to work in groups to create daring, bold and interesting shapes all while wearing latex. Working with other models can be difficult at the best of times so having to be creative and in such restrictive clothing was always going to be tough! We’ve got a bit of experience working along side other models given we work as twins more often than not. The key to a perfect shot is communication both with your fellow model and the photographer. You have to not only be aware of your own position and shape but understand overall composition of the shot while also producing complimentary expressions and poses. For the most part the girls nailed it – really taking advantage of the situation.
Unfortunately as always, someone had to go home and after three weeks running in the bottom two, sadly it was Summer’s time. We doubt that’s the end of her journey though – her positive attitude and enthusiasm will go a long way in this industry!
Next week tune in to see what the judges have in store for the girls because it’s MAKE OVER week!
